Alan Winter (aka Winterboy) is the twisted and passionate center of the band Winterboy. The self-taught singer/songwriter/twelve-string electric guitarist left school at age twenty. After a short stint as a military policeman he roamed America, working as a gravedigger, salesman, animal rescuer, ranch-hand, taxi driver, drug abuse counselor/social advocate, and online quit-smoking consultant. He wrote his first song 'in a friend's trailer park, somewhere in Colorado'. His experiences on the road fueled his imagination and inspired him to become a prolific writer, composing over 300 songs since then.

In creating his unique singer/songwriter, retro-rock hybrid sound, Winterboy explored different styles, from folk to indie rock. He perfected his playing and performance chops as a street/subway performer in Boston. Winterboy debuted as a rock trio during May 2000. He hit the ground running (with an LA Music Awards/ Best National Entry nomination behind him) and hasn't stopped yet. As the band quickly gained a reputation for fun, high-energy shows, Winterboy released a five-song demo, 'Three Free Radicals', in June 2000; reached the semi-finals in the MTV/VH1 'Band Warfare' contest; performed over a hundred gigs, and released the debut CD, 'ENORMODOME', in March, 2001. He added a fourth band member, covering keyboard/synthesizer, in the fall of ’01. Pre-production for Winterboy's next CD, 'Trouble In Toyland', starts in January 2002, as he begins a Northeast regional radio promotion of 'ENORMODOME'.

" Winterboy is an impressively uninhibited singer...a songwriter worth paying attention to...a crafty rock wordsmith...energetic, and never a dull lyrical moment."
STEVE MORSE, BOSTON GLOBE"

"Exceptional! Superb! Supreme! Excellent! (Best National Entry nomination)"
AL BOWMAN, Executive Producer,  L.A. MUSIC AWARDS

"Your demo tape was fantastic! As I type this I am once again listening to 'Deep End'. You have a great sound...the tape is really good. Quite a compliment considering we get like 5 thousand tapes and CDs each week!"
CARMELITA, WAAF

"Remember the days when an artist could galvanize an entire generation...as big as the season he takes his name from."
JULIAN B, MUSICIAN'S TRADE JOURNAL

"I have seen his live solo show and Winterboy definitely deserves to stand where Elvis Costello stood. If you like killer guitar work... if you have a brain and enjoy witty and engaging lyrics that urge you to think of places you've never imagined, and if you like an offbeat sense of humor... Winter is your season."

MIXX MAGAZINE

"Fantastic, the harmonic left-turns are great; really serious songwriting."
NORTHEAST PERFORMER

"Winterboy has quickly become one of the area's most charismatic performers."
The PHOENIX

"Winterboy sounds remarkably like a young Cat Stevens; his lyrical prowess and guitar playing shine."
METRONOME

"'Winterboy' has got to be one of the worst band names in Boston!
NIC CARTER, WBCN
